The workshop will cover invasive plant species, certification and training of pesticide applicators, basic pesticide use through the IPM (Integrated Pest Management) model, classes of pesticides, Personal Protective Equipment, and what to pay attention to on a label. The workshop will be co-led by our new Lake Watershed Program Specialist, Will Marlier, and Stephanie Smith, Deputy Director of Vermont’s Public Health and Agricultural Resource Management Division.
 

Our keynote speaker, Stephanie Smith, joined the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets (VAAFM) in 2013. She develops and implements policies and programs supportive of the agricultural industry and natural resource protection. Stephanie manages the operation of multiple programs within the Agency including pesticide applicator certification and training, feed, seed and fertilizer, nursery, pesticide product registration, introduced plant pest species, and ginseng. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Boston University and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia.
Additionally, our new Lake Watershed Program Specialist, Will Marlier, will share his extensive knowledge on the topic. Will serves as the Clerk of the Greensboro Conservation Commission as well as an Advisor to the Greensboro Land Trust. In these capacities, he has spearheaded the ongoing effort to manage invasive species in Greensboro.
